Blue Moon White IPA

The Blue Moon Brewing Company is a Molson-Coors brand, based out of Golden, Colorado. This is a 5.9% ABV white India Pale Ale brewed with orange peel and dry-hopped with Cascade, Citra, and Huell Melon hops.  That sounds great, but what is it really like?

The beer pours a hazy golden yellow. There is a half-inch of white, foamy head, with a whipped egg white quality to it. The aroma is citrus, tangy, light spice, light toasted wheat.  I’m getting the “White” ale part, but not the “IPA” part, from the aroma. The taste follows the aromas, fairly mild flavors, but a rather intense floral bitterness. It drinks crisp, intensely carbonated, refreshing. Other than drinking refreshing, this is too mild in its flavors and aromas, yet too intensely bitter with not enough else to hold up that bitterness.  I would not repeat.
