Keg Creek Waseya Creme Ale

The Keg Creek Brewing Company is in Glenwood, Iowa. The brewery is named after a nearby creek which was originally named Five Barrel Creek for the illicit whiskey found there in the mid-1800's. The adjacent county is Pottawattamie, and this beer takes its name from the Potowatomi tribe dialect in which Waseya "very light, bright sunshine."

The beer pours a not quite pale golden yellow, somewhere between champagne and straw. There is a half inch of white foamy head. The aroma is cracked corn, dry grain, light honey, and light grass. The taste follows the aromas, with a dry, but light finish, almost no bitterness. The beer drinks smooth and easy, with a moderate carbonation. This is the type of craft beer that you can get a light beer drinker to try, but that can also please a more discerning palate that wants a refreshing and drinkable beer that is also tasty.

2018: Still tasting good and better picture...The beer pours a light yellow golden in color. There is a short head of white, not long-lasting. The aroma is very mild, almost indiscernible, very light grain and bread dough. The taste is both sweet and bright, grain and bread dough, with a grassy moderate bitterness on the finish. The beer drink easy with crisp carbonation, almost begging to be chugged. This is a good “just drinking” beer.
