Delirium Red

This 8.0% ABV Belgian ale is from the Family Brewery Huyghe, brewing since 1654 in Melle/Ghent, Belgium.  It is brewed with natural flavors, think cherry, and Stevia. Now that's weird, especially for a Belgian beer.

The beer pours a cloudy dark red and dark salmon pink. There is a half-inch of light brown and salmon pink foam. The aroma is fruity, cherry, sweet, yet tart, over a malty, lightly yeasty base. The taste follows the aromas, loads of cherry, mostly sweet, a little tart, over rich Belgian malts. The finish is dry, not much bitterness at all. The beer drinks smooth with a fine, tingling carbonation.
