The beer pours deeply black, never letting in light. There is
over an inch of semi-creamy light brown head. The aroma is dark roasted malt,
espresso, a bit of char, and an odd celery note. The taste is bittersweet, very
dark chocolate, espresso, and some char. The odd note from the aroma melds into
the char in the taste. The finish is fairly bitter, tamping down the nice
sweetness, never too sweet. It drinks round and smooth, with the ABV
adding warmth, but not booziness. This is nice and would be great barrel
aged. Anyone know if they make a barrel
aged version?
