The beer pours extremely dark brown to black in color, the
deepest, darkest ruby when held to the light. There is a tall, thick, foaming
head of light brown. The aroma is sweet, roasted malt, dark caramel, very
herbal, woody, a bit yeasty, with an underlying note of mostly sweet and
somewhat tangy dark cherries. The taste is dark roasted malts, dark caramel,
nearing burnt sugar, woody, almost charred, and again the underlying note of
dark cherries. The beer is round, yet fizzy, with an intense, bottle
conditioned carbonation.
