Summit Unchained Series Batch 15 Fest Bier

The Summit Brewing Company is in St. Paul, Minnesota and has been making craft beer since 1986.  This is part of their Unchained Series of limited release special batch beers. Number 15 in the series is a 5.5% ABV German-style Marzen beer, the kind traditionally brought out for Oktoberfest.

The beer pours a clear copper and amber in color. There is an inch of thick off-white foam. The aroma is toasted and roasted malt, nutty, caramel, straw, fruity, with a grassy edge. The taste follows the aromas, lots of caramel and nut from the toasted malts, sweetness in the background pleasantly beat down by a dry, grassy, bitterness. It drinks crisp and refreshing. This is simply a great Oktoberfest style beer.
