Mahou Cinco Estrellas

Mahou Cinco Estrellas, or Five Stars, is a 5.5% ABV lager from Mahou-San Miguel of Spain. I had this many years ago when I was travelling in Spain, it will be nice to try it again now.

The beer pours a nice dark golden in color. There is over an inch of white foamy head, a bit thick. The aroma is toasted golden grain, a bit of tart fruit and grassiness. The taste is toasted golden grain, a grassy bitterness, starting moderate and turning fairly intense in a pilsner-like way. There is a slightly off metallic note at the end. A middle of the road decent Euro lager, but refreshing with tapas after a day of sightseeing.
