The beer pours a dark chestnut and ruby in color. There is a
tall head of thick and somewhat creamy off-white to light brown foam. The aroma
is roasted and toasted malt, caramel, nut, grassy, and a light, boozy
fruitiness. The taste is roasted and toasted malt, caramel, a bit of coffee, light
fruit, with a fairly bitter finish. There is a definite grassiness in the aftertaste.
It is medium bodied, but easy drinking, a real delight.
“A fine beer may be judged with only one sip, but it is better to be thoroughly sure.” -Czech Proverb

Maine Beer Company Zoe
This is a 7.2% ABV "happy, hoppy, amber ale" from the Maine Beer Company of Freeport, Maine. This beer is named after one of the brewer's daughters, Zoe. They enjoyed a trip to a whale museum, and now one percent of the sales of this beer are donated to an organization dedicated to preserving whales. The brewery purchases green energy, donates spent grain to local farmers, and gives one percent of its sales to environmental non-profits.
