Flat Earth Ovni Ale

The Flat Earth Brewing Company is in St. Paul, Minnesota. This is a 7.2% ABV Biere de Garde style beer. Ovni means "flying saucer" in French. It takes its name from an incident in 1902 when one hundred feet of the Eiffel Tower had to be replaced after being damaged by an electrical discharge, that some theorized was from a flying saucer.

The beer pours a deep, dark copper in color. There is a tall head of off-white foam that bubbles away relatively quickly. The aroma is malty, roasted, caramel, with a fruit note, both sweet and tangy. The taste is malty, lots of caramel and fruit, with a dry and lightly grassy finish. There is sweetness, but it finishes with light bitterness. It is medium bodied, very smooth, and well carbonated. It drinks like a liquid semi-sweet elegant pasty. This is absolutely delicious!
