Squatters Beers are brewed by the Utah Brewers Cooperative of Salt Lake City, Utah. This 5.5% ABV red ale is named after a radio show called Radio From Hell on 96.3 KXRK, a radio station in Salt Lake City.
The beer pours ruby, garnet and mahogany brown. As ales go, one might even say it is red as hell. There is a tall head of thick and creamy light brown foam. The aroma is malty, roasty and toasty, dark caramel, nutty. The taste follows the aromas, all kinds of nice malt flavors going on, adding a dark fruit note to the background, and a very light touch of tobacco. There is enough hops to keep it from getting sweet and to add some bite and bitterness to the dry finish. It is medium bodied and has the right medium carbonation for the style. As red ales go, this one is top notch.
