Keg Creek IPA

The Keg Creek Brewing Company is in Glenwood, Iowa. The brewery is named after a nearby creek which was originally named Five Barrel Creek for the illicit whiskey found there in the mid-1800's. Their India Pale Ale is 6.4% ABV and has 70 IBU's. It uses Chinook, Cascade and Columbus hops.

The beer pours a deep amber and copper with chestnut tones. There is a short and thin head of off-white foam that does leave some sticky lacing. The aroma is a tangy hop forward. There is lots of citrus and sweet, tall grass, with a bit of passion fruit. The taste is equal parts citrus and caramel malt, with a strong sun tea and lemon finish. The ending is quite bitter and adds a grapefruit element and a touch of spiciness. It refreshes in the same way that tonic water does, it's so dry it's wet. It is medium bodied with a just right carbonation. An interesting take on an IPA that is worth trying.
