Game On Takedown Black Lager

This 6.0% ABV beer is from the Game On Brewing Company of Glendale, Wisconsin.  They have a line of sports-themed beers.  This may be an offshoot of the Sprecher brewers (who also do Chameleon beers).


The beer pours black in appearance, with a bit of dark brown and ruby on the edges if held to the light.  It has a large, light brown, foamy, creamy head.  The aroma is dark roasted malt, some coffee.  The taste is strongly dark roasted malt, coffee, as flavorful as many porters, but with no sweetness or off-putting tang.  It is nicely carbonated, but the large head adds a creamy element as well.  This is really quite well done and very flavorful.
