Sixpoint Sweet Action

The Sixpoint Brewery is in Brooklyn, New York.  This 5.2% ABV is self-described by Sixpoint as part pale ale, part wheat, part cream ale.

The beer pours a glowing honey-amber-orange and slightly hazy.  There is a quarter inch of thick and creamy head that leaves fairly thick lacing down the glass.  The aroma is pine, spices, especially cloves, some sweet, some wheat, some orange.  The taste is very orange, sweet, with some yeasty, fruity tartness.  There is both toasted wheat and bitter hops.  The spice is also in the taste, but lighter.  The mouthfeel is creamy and finishes dry.  I am not sure what to make of this beer, it has some good parts, but is a bit strange, perhaps unique might be a better word. (I tried this again in 2015 and liked it much better, see below.)

2015: The beer pours a clear, bright, light amber and copper. There is a relatively short head of white foam. The aroma is lightly sweet, yet tangy, caramel and citrus. The taste is citrus, caramel, tea with lemon, with a very dry and lightly to moderately bitter finish. The beer drinks refreshingly easy.
