Baraboo Woodpecker Wheat Ale

Baraboo Beers are a proprietary brand of the Hy-Vee chain of Midwestern supermarkets.  The beers are contract brewed by Stevens Point Brewery in Stevens Point, Wisconsin.  This is a spring wheat ale with specialty malts and Yakima hops.

The beer pours a cloudy yellow and golden with a short head of pure white foam.  The aroma is toasted wheat, slightly spicy and funky (I mean this in a good way), with a lemony tartness.  The taste follows the aromas, there is a nice toasted wheat maltiness, slightly nutty, with a nice bitter, funky hop edge.  The beer drinks crisp and very refreshing.  This is a dangerously drinkable beer, flavorful, but easy drinking, and perfect for these hot summer days.  I will drink this one again for sure.  Good job on this one Baraboo!
