Mad River Brewing Company Steelhead Double India Pale Ale

The Mad River Brewing Company is in Blue Lake, Humboldt County, California.  They make two lines of beers, Jamaica Brand and Steelhead.

This 8.6% ABV beer pours slightly hazy and a deep amber-orange-copper in color.  There is a short head of nearly creamy foam, off-white to very light brown in color.  The aroma is fairly subdued for the style, apricot jam and orange marmalade over toast.  The taste is caramel malt, wheat toast with fruit jams, and just a bit of a bubble-gum note.
