This 6.8% ABV beer pours a glowing orange-copper in color and has a quarter inch of thick foamy white head that leaves a medium density of ragged and sticky lacing. The aroma is wildly hop forward, with succulent tropical fruits, melon and a bit of pineapple juice. There is some spiciness and zestiness in the background, flittering around just enough caramel malt to keep this thing from blasting off into outer space. The taste is the same massive array of hops as the aroma, the flavors are fresh, fruity, lush and spine-tingling. The finish is slightly sweet, slightly dry and with a satisfying amount of bitterness reminiscent of drinking fresh grapefruit juice. The aftertaste is lingering notes of tropical fruits and grapefruit. The bottle does not lie when it states, "The name says it all," because this beer is a just outstanding West Coast American IPA.
