Widmer Brothers Brewing - Pitch Black IPA; Rotator IPA Series X-114; Nelson Imperial IPA; Citra Blonde Summer Brew; Rotator O'Ryely IPA

Widmer Brothers is from Portland, Oregon.

Pitch Black IPA - This is part of their "Series 924." True to its name, this 6.4% ABV beer pours pitch black in color with an inch of light brown head that leaves moderate lacing on the glass.  The aroma is hop forward, citrus and piney hops with a hint of dark roasted malt in the background.  The taste is massive citrus and tropical fruit hops with a bit of cantaloupe.  There is a slight sweetness from the dark roasted malt, which provides good balance but is present as just a hint in the background.  My god, this beer is delicious.  If you are a hophead, seek this beer out immediately.

Rotator IPA Series X-114 - According to the bottle, the "X" stands for awesome.  This 6.2% ABV beer pours a glowing orange-yellow in color with a small, creamy white head that leaves sticky lacing of medium thickness down the glass.  The aroma is an aromatic ambrosia of tropical fruits and citrus zests.  The taste is wonderful, massive, fruity hops, a delicious combination of several tropical fruits and citrus.  The citrus component is all the fruit and aromatics and none of the bitterness.  That is not to say that all these hops don't impart a dry and bitter finish, it is just that the fruit sits apart and on top of any bitter notes.  This IPA is hophead's dream. Highly recommended!

Nelson Imperial IPA - This beer is also part of their Series 924 beers.  This one is 8.6% ABV and pours a glowing orange bronze with a small head of off-white creamy foam.  The aroma is hoppy, a touch of pine, cantaloupe, tropical fruits, ice tea with lemon, on a solid malt base with a touch of burnt caramel.  The taste is fruity, creamy, citrus zest, a hint of pine on a solid base of malt.  There is a touch of pumpernickel bread-like zestiness.  This is a solid and enjoyable imperial IPA.

Rotator IPA Series O'Ryely IPA - This 6.4% ABV beer pours a medium brown, dark amber, and orange in color.  There is a short head of off-white to very light brown foam.  The aroma is citrus, melon, tropical fruit, over a spicy rye toast.  The taste is rich, spicy rye malt slathered in fruit flavors.  This beer is delicious and the best rye IPA I have had to date.
