Oasis Ale - From the can: "Bold Beer, Aggressively Hopped, Mightily Malted” . Boy they aren’t kidding. This is extremely bold without being heavy. The beer pours a dark amber, copper in color. There is a half-inch of off-white head, thick, foamy and almost creamy. Very malty, grain and sprouts, very hoppy, aromatic, no one aspect of hops prevails, there is citrus, pine, floral, grassy, finish is bitter but not overly so. This beer is very intense yet still balanced. It is 7.2% ABV.
Is this a double IPA? Yes, it is. What makes a double IPA? Double India Pale Ales (abbreviated Double IPAs or DIPAs) are a strong, very hoppy style of pale beer. Also known as Imperial IPAs (or IIPAs), these beers have high amounts of malt and hops. Double IPAs typically have alcohol content above 7% by volume. IBUs are in the very high range (60+).
If you like a bold beer, this is it, yet still very drinkable. Not overly sweet in any way, which I like. I have had their IPA and their Kold lager in bottles, but now they are exclusively cans.
Tallgrass Brewing Company Ale - Their flagship beer. I find it interesting that they call it simply "Ale" with no further definition or explanation. I would call it a brown ale. It is dark brown copper in color, about as dark as you can get and still be clearly translucent. Some creamy white-brown head that leaves lacing. It smells just as it tastes, a malty, nutty brown ale with a hint of hops on the finish. It finishes dry and not sweet like some brown ales. This beer absolutely rocks. From the can: "Defiantly Dark, Seductively Smooth."
Tallgrass Brewing Company IPA - This is a solid IPA. The beer pours orange-copper in color with a short head of off-white foam. It is well balanced with malt, but has a great taste and aroma of hops, with some pine and citrus. The beer is very drinkable and has a smooth mouth-feel. It does have an aftertaste that is a little too astringently bitter. From the can: "Bombastically Hopped, Surprisingly Malty".
I am very impressed with Tallgrass Brewing Company's beers.
Velvet Rooster - This 8.5% ABV beer is a Belgian-style Tripel. The beer pours an orange dark golden in color with a short head of white foam. The aroma is floral, jasmine tea, with a malty element that is hard to define. The taste is floral yeast. If you are a fan of yeasty beers, this one should blow you away. I am not a fan of yeasty beers, but this one is at least drinkable to me. It has an interesting element of jasmine tea and cloves.
