Backpocket Exaggerator Doppelbock

This is a 7.8% ABV doppelbock beer. It comes from the Backpocket Brewing Company of Coralville, Iowa. 

The beer pours a very dark brown, nearly black. There is a relatively short head of tan foam. The aroma is sweet, tart, light peat smoke, caramel, dark cherry and berries. The taste follows the aromas, hitting the same notes of sweet, fruit, fruit tart, and peaty smoke. The beer drinks smooth with a light tingle of carbonation.  This was not my favorite doppelbock I've tried.
