Stone Brewing NxS IPA (collaboration with Sierra Nevada)

The Stone Brewing Company is in Escondido, San Diego County, California. For this unique take on the India Pale Ale style they collaborated with Sierra Nevada Brewing of Chico, California. A fresh dry-hopped IPA is blended with IPA that has aged in rye whiskey barrels and gin infused bourbon barrels.

The beer pours a clear, gleaming, light copper in color. There is a tall, thick, foamy head of off-white foam. The aroma is very ripe tropical fruits and melons, oak, pine, citrus and floral. There is soft and subtle rye whiskey. The taste follows the same notes as the aromas, throwing in some vanilla and a bit of the herbs of the gin also comes out in the flavors. There is some spicy notes in the taste as well, grassy bitterness on the finish, and the dry astringency of oak. The beer drinks nice and smooth with soft carbonation. This is a delicious take on the IPA!
