Goose Island Oktoberfest

This is a 6.4% ABV seasonal release from Goose Island Beer Company of Chicago, Illinois (now owned by AB-InBev). It is a traditional marzen for the Oktoberfest season.

The beer pours a deep, dark copper and amber in color, yet clear. There is a relatively short head of off-white to very light tan foam. The aroma is malty, sweet, caramel, dark fruits, and sweet potato. The taste follows the aromas, a bit of dark fruit enters in. The beer has a tingling carbonation and drinks easy. A bit too sweet, no nuttiness, but some light grassiness to cut the sweetness. Okay, but as Oktoberfests go, there are better.
