Old Golden Hen

From Morland, the makers of Old Speckled Hen, comes this lighter beer made with pale malts and Galaxy hops. Morland was established in 1711.

The beer pours a light amber and copper in color, crystal clear. There is a good inch of white to off-white foamy head. The aroma is lightly sweet malt, touch of sweet potato, a bit of lager funk, and some plum-like fruitiness. The taste follows the aromas, adding light melon or tropical fruit at the back of the flavor, very subtle. This drinks like a nice malty lager with some light fruity hops on the tail end. I get an aftertaste of jasmine tea. The finish is dry and moderately bitter. It is an easy drinker, refreshing, but with a nice flavor.
