To Ol Dangerously Close to Stupid Imperial IPA

This 9.3% ABV Imperial India Pale Ale is from To Ol, with the beer brewed and bottled at De Proef Brouwerij at Lochristi-Hijfte, Belgium. An original partner with the two guys behind Tool was Mikkel (think Mikkeller).

The beer pours cloudy, and the color of unfiltered honey. There is a tall, thick head that is eggshell white to off-white, and leaves thick lacing down the glass. The aroma is passion fruit, citrus, with a touch of pine, funk and spiciness. The hops are forward, but they are on a bed of toasted malt with a touch of honey-like sweetness. The taste is funky, passion fruit, touch of spicy heat, again on that bed of malt. It is creamy, yet carbonated, smooth, yet bitter, thick, yet quite drinkable. Drinking this will not make you a tool.
