Nectar Ales Red Nectar

This 5.4% ABV American-style red ale is from Nectar Ales of Paso Robles, California. They have been brewing since 1987. This won a gold medal at the 2010 Great American Beer Fest.

The beer pours dark chestnut with a red tinge. There is over an inch of thick off-white head. The aroma is a meld of hoppy and malty; citrus, pine, spicy mix with roasted and caramel from the malt. The taste follows the aromas, adding in a touch of tea and tobacco. It is smooth and medium-bodied in the mouth. This is very nice.
