Newcastle Bombshell

This "real British beauty" is a limited edition release from Newcastle. Originally from Newcastle Upon Tyne, England, they are now owned by Caledonian Brewery of Edinburgh, Scotland. The beer is 4.4% ABV and is described as a pale blonde ale. It uses Cascade, Hallertau and Northdown hops.

The beer pours a dark honey golden in color. There is nearly an inch of pure white foamy head that diminishes fairly rapidly. The aroma is grain, straw, grass, floral, and light fruit. The taste follows the aromas directly, with light carbonation and a moderate bitterness. There is a mineral quality that is shared by all Newcastle beers. There is a sweet floral note that ends abruptly from the ample, but not overwhelming bitterness on the finish.
