Southampton Burton IPA

This is a 6.5% ABV Burton India Pale Ale from Southampton Publick House, brewed in Saratoga Springs, New York. It is modeled after the English IPA's brewed in Burton-on-Trent, with minerals added to the brewing water to match that of the Burton area. Last I had heard, this brand was owned by Pabst.

The beer pours a hazy copper and light amber. There is a three-quarter inch head of thick and creamy off-white foam. The aroma is spiced orange over caramel malt. The taste follows the aromas, with an intensely bitter and dry finish, adding grapefruit peel notes. It is well carbonated with a subtle sting. This is a classic English-style IPA.
