Omnipollo Nebuchadnezzar

This 8.5% ABV Imperial IPA is from Omnipollo of Stockholm, Sweden. They craft recipes in home brew style and then brew them in breweries around the world (much like Mikkeller, Evil Twin and Pretty Things). This beer was brewed at De Proef Brouwerij, Lochristi, Belgium.

The beer pours a somewhat hazy dark honey golden and orange in color. There is an inch head of white to off-white head. The aroma is piney and funky, over citrus and vinous fruit, with the tang of yeast in the background. The taste is pine, strong tea with lemon, tobacco, fruit, and an earth and leather yeastiness. It has an astringent and fairly bitter finish. This is for those who like funkified IPA's.

Nebuchadnezzar was the king of Babylonia who conquered Jerusalem and destroyed the Temple in 586 B.C. How that becomes the name for a beer is beyond me.
