Schlafly Biere de Garde

This is a 7.0% biere de garde, a bottle-conditioned French farmhouse style ale is from Schlafly, brewed and bottled by the St. Louis Brewery of St. Louis, Missouri.

The beer pours a bright orange, amber and copper in color. There is a short off-white head. There is surprisingly little head for a bottle-conditioned beer. The aroma has a touch of sweetness, lots of floral, earthy, horse blanket and leather. The taste is also slightly sweet, very floral, and quite yeasty, with fruit tones and a bit of earth. The mouthfeel is both sweet and thin, with tingly carbonation. The aftertaste provides a nutty maltiness.
