This beer pours black in appearance, with a short head of brown foam. The aroma is very dark roasted malt, lots of coffee and mocha. The taste is deep, rich, dark, dark roasted malt, with the same coffee and mocha from the aroma, dark chocolate. The beer feels substantial, has a noticeable, but fully appropriate carbonation, and has some creaminess in the mouthfeel. The finish is dry, moderately bitter, with a slight bitter tang on the end. This is a nice FULL flavored porter.
Still tasting great in 2017: The beer pours black in appearance. There is a relatively short head of light brown. The aroma is dark roastsed malt, char, milky, dark chocolate and light mocha. The taste follows the aromas, very dark roasted, char, chocolate, coffee, with a mineral tang and some dark fruits. The beer drinks very smooth, with a silky note to the body, and a fairly bitter finish.
Amazingly, the bottle art doesn't seem to have changed a bit in 5 years, that is rare these days.
