Schlitz Malt Liquor - Bull Ice I.M.L.

The Schlitz Malt Liquor Bulls are from the Stroh's Brewery which is now owned by the Pabst Brewing Company who has all their beers contract brewed.  I vaguely remember Schlitz Blue Bull being very popular in the late 1970's.  They even had national television ads where the bull would crash into some place and they had some celebrity endorsers.  You can find some of the old commercials on You Tube.

Bull Ice - This 8.2% ABV malt liquor is the Schlitz Bull Ice Malt Liquor or I.M.L.  The beer pours dark honey golden with an inch of billowy head and is very amply carbonated.  It actually leaves medium lacing down the glass.  The aroma is sweet, grain in a metal bucket, with a touch of grass, a touch of zesty hops and a touch of green apple.  The aroma is better than the taste.  The taste is sweet, nearing cloying but not quite, with a lot of green apple and some malt.  Not a great taster, but it is at least barely drinkable, which is more than can be said for many high alcohol malt liquors.

Blue Bull remains, easily, the tastiest of the bunch.
