A 4.6% ABV stout from Stoke Lacy, Hereford, England. Voted the CAMRA Champion Bottle Conditioned Beer of Britain 2008. It pours coffee-black in color with little head. It can’t be poured too aggressively, as it is bottle-conditioned and recommends leaving the sediment in the bottle. It is very dry, astringent, nice mouth-feel from the fine bottle-conditioned bubbles. Beyond the astringency, it is very mild, some coffee and dark roasted malt, not hugely flavorful, but not sweet and heavy either. A nice stout. I was able to pour second half of bottle at a steeper angle and get a nice thick, creamy head of about an inch. I like this stout, if it comes on draught in England it would probably be incredible to drink it there fresh.
CAMRA is the Campaign for Real Ale in Britain. http://www.camra.org.uk/
I have also had their Our Glass ale.
