Lion Bridge Strawberry Aldo

This is a sour beer with strawberries, aged for one and a half years in natural oak barrels. It is from the Lion Bridge Brewing Company of Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

The beer pours a medium dark brown in color. There is nearly an inch of tan head. The aroma is sour, vaguely fruity with strawberry, leather, woody, a bit of tobacco. There is sweet, very ripe, strawberry that comes out to battle with the tart. The taste follows the aromas to an extent, but all is overwhelmed by the sourness, being almost vinegar-like. The mouth feel is carbonated vinegar. This is overwhelmingly sour, without balance, and losing all the tastes signaled by the complex aroma. There is wood and strawberry in the aftertaste.
