Backpocket Hey, Honey

This 4.6% ABV wheat ale is from the Backpocket Brewing Company of Coralville, Iowa. It is brewed with local honey, along with coriander, ginger, and orange peel.

The beer pours a lightly hazy golden. There is a relatively short head of white foam, not long lasting. The aroma is a blast of toasted wheat, yeasty clove and banana, sweet floral honey, with coriander and citrus. The taste follows the aromas, the ginger is not forward, but adds some bite. The finish has a fairly strong floral bitterness. There is sweetness and bread, but the yeast and spices pop all over the place. This drinks easy and refreshing, making a great summer beer.
