Shoreline Brewery Lost Sailor Barrel-Aged

This 12% ABV bourbon barrel-aged imperial stout is from the Shoreline Brewery of Michigan City, Indiana. It takes its name from being near the shores of Lake Michigan. They have a nice line-up of beer and food at their brewpub. They also sell some to-go offerings of beer.

The beer pours black with a half inch of creamy tan foam. The aroma is oaky, dark cherry, light bourbon, some sweetness. The taste follows the aromas, adding in a bit of dark roast. There is tanginess to this that could be from too much oak, or could be from a bit of infection. It is not clearly infected, but it could be. The finish has a strong oak astringency. It drinks easy, but its taste is not that good.
