New Belgium Oakspire Bourbon Barrel Ale

This special release 9.0% ABV ale is aged on oak spirals and bourbon barrel char. It is made in collaboration with Knob Creek Bourbon and is from New Belgium Brewing of Fort Collins, Colorado. 

The beer pours a deep amber and burnt orange. There is a short head of light tan foam. The aroma is caramel, toffee, vanilla, bourbon, with a touch of oak. The taste follows the aromas, malty and sweet, then turning dry with oak astringency. The finish has a moderate bitterness that cuts off the sweetness a bit. The beer drinks with a medium body and moderate carbonation. This is a pleasant bourbon barrel-aged ale (aged on oak spirals and bourbon barrel char).
