Northgate Bitter Fool IPA

This 7.3% ABV India Pale Ale is from Northgate Brewing of the Northeast area of Minneapolis, Minnesota. They are now canning many of their beers. This uses Jester hops, and thus is a "fool" in a medieval sense play on words.

The beer pours a very deep copper in color, with a very tall, thick, foamy head of off-white. The aroma is a blast of citrus, with some tropical, extremely aromatic. The taste follows the aromas, a blast of citrus, over tea and caramel, with quenching grapefruit, and a moderately bitter finish. This has a nice strength and balance between hops and malt. The beer drinks smooth, with pleasantly stinging carbonation. This is a very enjoyable IPA.
