Schwaben Brau Volksfest Bier

This 5.5% ABV beer is from the Dinkelacker Schwaben Brau brewery of Stuttgart, Germany. It is imported by S&H. It is apparently their seasonal Oktoberfest offering. It is a great lager, but it does not drink like a Marzen, more like the golden style also seen in Hacker-Pschorr Festbier.

The beer pours a dark, golden yellow in color. There is over an inch of thick, foamy, white head. The aroma is honey sweet, floral, straw, golden grain, and a bit grassy. The taste follows the aromas, bread, clover honey, straw, grain, with a dry and lightly bitter grassy finish. The beer drinks smooth, with a light, tingling carbonation. This is one of those absolutely wonderful German lagers.
