Sierra Nevada Beer Camp CANfusion

This is part of the 2014 Beer Camp Across America special release from Sierra Nevada Brewing of Chico, California. They invited breweries all across America to join in a collaboration brew with them and/or join them on their Beer Camp Tour with seven stops across the USA as their bus makes its way to the site of their new brewery in Mills River, NC (there is an eighth mini-camp at El Bait Shop in Des Moines, Iowa). The release features a mixed 12 pack of twelve unique beers, two in cans.

This beer is a 7.2% ABV rye bock beer that is brewed in collaboration with Oskar Blues Brewery of Longmont, Coloradao (and like Sierra Nevada with a new brewery in North Carolina).

The beer pours a gleaming copper and amber in color. There is a relatively tall foamy head that is off-white to light tan in color that leaves sticky lacing down the glass. The aroma is bright citrus contrasted with spicy rye. The taste is the same, malty, toasted, spicy rye contrasted with round, bright citrusy flavors. It is smooth and round yet dry, with a spicy and moderately bitter finish. Another beer in this series of excellently sparring yet balanced contrasts of malt and hops.
