New Belgium Fat Tire

Is it just me, or a dozen years ago, wasn't Fat Tire basically New Belgium? I mean, this is their original flagship I believe. New Belgium Brewing Company is from Fort Collins, Colorado and this is their 5.2% ABV amber ale.

The beer pours a somewhat gleaming amber and copper in color. There is a short head of white to off-white foam. The aroma is light, caramel, toasted, lightly roasted, a bit nutty. The taste follows the aromas, adding in a light note of dark stone fruits. It is highly carbonated. This is a good gateway beer for those wanting to wean themselves off watery beers and enter the world of craft.
