C.I.B. Orange Scorpion

The C.I.B. Brewery is a nano brewery in Carson, Iowa. The initials stand for Chefs In Black. They use wild yeasts in making their beers. This beer features hot Trinidad Scorpion chilies from Volcanic Peppers of Plattsmouth, Nebraska. It is bottle conditioned.

The beer pours a cloudy amber and burnt orange in color. There is a very tall, foamy, bubbling, light tan head. The aroma is tart, vinous, woody, with a low pepper heat.  The taste follows the aromas, tart, fruity, vinous, a bit of wood, with a hot, tingling burn, that affects the lips more than the mouth, and leaves a wave of heat down the back of the throat. Definitely hot, but manageable if you really like spicy things. This is light years better than Stone’s Crime and Punishment
