Boulevard Westside Rye Ale

The latest 12 pack sampler from Boulevard Brewing Company of Kansas City, Missouri includes two "Tasting Room" beers, beers that have been available in their tasting room, but never before bottled. This is a 5.2% ABV ale that is made with 30% rye. The other beer is their Mid-Coast IPA. 

The beer pours a deep and dark amber in color. There is a tall half-inch of thick, creamy, off-white to very light tan head. The aroma is tangy, fruity, plums, a touch metallic, but pleasant. The taste follows the aromas, plums and tangy, you can really taste the rye, roasted and hearty. The beer drinks light and easy, the finish is very lightly bitter, tangy, a touch  metallic, but in a way that is congruous with the beer.
