Peak Organic IPA

This 7.1% ABV India Pale Ale is from the Peak Organic Brewing Company of Portland, Maine. Like too many beers, this has a "best before" area that then has months and years that are supposed to be notched to show you the date.  Why are they so often not notched?  Pet peeve.

The beer pours a hazy orange, amber and copper in color. There is a relatively short head of white to off-white foam. The aroma is overripe fruits, a touch of funk, with a tart ending. The taste is funky, dank, over toasted malt. The finish is exceedingly dry, but only moderately bitter. The mouth is a touch watery. Well, I don't know if this is fresh or not because the date wasn't marked, but it is not very good, so for their sake I hope it's not fresh.
