Tallgrass Pub Ale

The Tallgrass Brewing Company is from Manhattan, Kansas. They have  really solid line-up of beers, all currently canned. (I also like that they always seem to bring a special firkin when at beerfests). This pub ale is 4.4% ABV and says it is the original 2007 formula. It is my understanding that this beer is what used to be known simply as their "Ale."  According to the can it is "A fine brown ale with mild and rich flavors to win friends and influence enemies."

The beer pours a medium dark chestnut brown with a tall head of very light brown foam. The aroma is nutty, well roasted and toasted malt. The taste is rich and follows the aromas, very flavorful, very nutty, roasted and toasted. It is very malty, but also dry. There is a present, but light carbonation, perfect for the lighter mouthfeel. This has substantial flavor, like an excellent English mild, although lighter in color, and nuttier. Damn, this is good!
