Alpine + New Belgium Super India Pale Ale

This 9.0% ABV imperial IPA is part of New Belgium Brewing's Lips of Faith series of special brews. It is brewed in collaboration with the Alpine Beer Company. The beer is triple dry-hopped and uses Columbus, Amarillo, Centennial, and Simcoe hops. I like that the "super" hero has on a cape, but also a cheap 70's style Evil Knievel helmet.

The beer pours amber and orange in color. There is a near inch of thick, creamy, foamy, off-white head. The aroma is fruity, lots of orange, some melon, some floral, a hint of pine. The taste is a bed of slightly sweet, solid malt, lots of orange, citrus peels, some pine, spicy, a bit floral, resinous. The finish is moderately bitter and very dry. For its big alcohol and flavor, it drinks surprisingly "light", relatively speaking. The aftertaste is extremely pleasing. This is very good.
