Olvalde Farms and Brewing Company - Ode to a Russian Shipwright Imperial Stout Porter

The Olvalde Farm and Brewing Company is in Rollingstone, Minnesota.

This is a beer brewed true to the time of Peter the Great, using rye and spruce tips.  The swing top pops with amazing force.  The beer pours deeply black, as dark as used motor oil.  There is a massive foamy head, medium brown in color.  The aroma is dark roasted malt, piney merging into smokey, the whiff of a campfire of pine wood in a cold, deep, ancient pine forest.  The taste is smokey, piney, sweet and tart, all at the same time. This is a very unique and intriguing beer, but well crafted.  It is easy to envision that you are drinking this a couple hundred years ago.
