This 5.6% ABV beer pours deep black, with a massive boiling head that is thick, foamy, creamy and light brown in color. The aroma is dark roasted malt, sweet, chocolate, and a spruce-like tanginess. The taste is dark roasted malt, sweet and dark chocolate, and a touch of iced coffee. I tend to like dry stouts much more than sweet stouts, but I have to say this is probably one of the best sweet, or milk (because the sweetness comes from added lactose), stouts I have ever tried. It is relatively well balanced.
