Troegs The Mad Elf Ale

This is an ale brewed with honey and cherries from Troegs Brewing Company in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. It is a large 11% ABV. It pours a reddish-amber with fizzy carbonation that leaves no head. The aroma is bananas and cough syrup; overwhelmingly yeasty. The taste reminds me most of a German hefeweizen in its banana yeastiness, however it is heavier, more intensely flavored and the cherry adds a medicinal touch. I had high hopes for his from its description, but unfortunately the yeast is overwhelming and I am not a yeast fan.
