Boulevard Brewing Nut Cracker Ale

This is an unfiltered winter warmer from Boulevard Brewing Company out of Kansas City, Missouri and it comes in at 5.9% ABV.

The beer pours a barely translucent dark brown with amber and red, and a generous foamy head.  The head is in fact so thick that it is hard to get a lot of aroma, but it seems to be malt forward with fruit, caramel and some spice.  There are no utterly predominant flavors, but the main ones seem to be of dark fruit, plums and cherries on a solid malt base and with a bracingly bitter finish.  This seems to be following the trend of most of the 2010 Christmas beers that I have tried so far in that it is well-balanced, and very drinkable, but lacking any "wow" factor or special distinction.  It is "nice".
