Bauhaus Stargrazer

This is a 5.0% ABV German-style schwarzbier, or dark lager. It is from Bauhaus Brew Labs of Minneapolis, Minnesota.

The beer pours black in appearance, extremely dark brown if held to the light. There is an inch of tan head that fizzles away fairly quickly. The aroma is dark roasted, char, light anise. The taste follows the aromas, very dark roasted, with some char, coffee, a touch of very dark bittersweet chocolate, and just a bit of anise. The beer has a medium body and fairly intense carbonation. Bauhaus makes eminently drinkable beers all across the board.

The name of this beer put the song "Stargazer" into my head (listening to it right now as I type this), and I've been reliving the early 1990's and listening to Mother Love Bone for a couple of days since I cracked this beer.
