Schell's Bock

This 6.1% ABV seasonal bock style beer is from the August Schell Brewing Company of New Ulm, Minnesota. They were established in 1860 and they are the second oldest family owned brewery in the United States.

The beer pours a dark brown with red-orange ruby and garnet. There is a half-inch head of tan, slightly creamy, head. The aroma is toasted malt, loads of caramel, toffee, and a touch of nuttiness. The taste follows the aromas, lots of malty caramel and toffee, with a light touch of nut, and a bit of dark, plum-like fruits. There is some sweetness, but the finish is semi-sweet to semi-dry, with light bitterness. The beer drinks easy, smooth, with a tingle of carbonation. This is nicely done, yet easily drinkable.
